The primary purpose of clothing is functional, as a protection from the elements. Clothes also enhance safety during hazardous activities such as hiking and cooking, by providing a barrier between the skin and the environment. Further, clothes provide a hygienic barrier, keeping toxins away from the body and limiting the transmission of germs. Clothing performs important social and cultural functions. A uniform, for example, may identify civil authority figures, such as police and army personnel, or it may identify team, group or political affiliations. In many societies, norms about clothing reflect standards of modesty, religion, gender, and social status. Clothing may also function as a form of adornment and an expression of personal taste or style. Throughout history, many materials have been used for clothes. Materials have ranged from leather and furs, to weaved and woven materials, to elaborate and exotic natural and synthetic fabrics. Recent scientific research estimates that humans have been wearing clothing for as long as 650,000 years. Others claim that clothing likely originated in the neolithic age. Articles carried rather than worn (purses), worn on a single part of the body and easily removed (scarves), worn purely for adornment (jewelery), or those which serve a function other than protection (eyeglasses), are normally considered accessories rather than clothing. What is the name / type of clothing worn by british soldiers now (what is the current issue) - is it still soldier 95 or has that been updated now? I want to get hold of some Army issue clothing as I figure it is harder wearing and cheaper than normal walking gear. Sorry, further details. Issue SAS kit is good stuff I doubt it changed much since I wore it, In cold weather I used Patt.68 combats the best ever made you could probally still get them gavering dust at the back of some Army Surplus shop. Another option for you is US M65 kit well made and very hard wearing it comes in many flavours including black used by SWAT plenty on eBay. Forget Issue boots they are better I have been told but still poor, best hard wearing reasonably prices boots are Hi Tec Magnums full leather beat Danner hands down. Often we had to pin the clothes to keep them on. Lingerie models wore a 36B/C and a small panty. Petites sometimes were adult mannequins (with flat feet, or sometimes no feet at all) and sometimes juniors mannequins, depending on the season and the clothes being displayed. There were no mannequins in the plus size department. In Juniors, the mannequins wore the smallest size available (usually a 3), and we *always* had to pin the clothes to make them smaller. In mens, the mannequin usually wore a 34/36 pant, and a medium shirt. Children's had about six different size models, and I don't remember their sizes.
